What I'm doing here -

So here's my plan.

I've been reading and researching the mythology of the DC Comic universe surrounding Green Lantern for about three years now. I cannot particularly say why I have taken this tangent. I apparently have a character trait (read: flaw) that causes me to obsessively research a subject until the answer to an unknown question is answered. Once I have figured out both the question and the answer, I lose the energy and passion to continue my gluttonous research.

So, I figure I'll document some of my high points about my love of comics in general.

I love the medium. It narrows the possible interpretations of the artist(s) intent. After all, the illustration is three-fourths the page in some cases. The reader sees it and goes with that image in their mind's eye, thus narrowing the focus of the overall effect. In the case of collaboratively created comics such as DC and Marvel, they are potentially written, illustrated, or edited by someone different from issue to issue. This makes each issue its own combination of storyboarding and illustration. This fascinates me.

Essentially, these two publishing powerhouses have the gambit on our cultural nerd mythology. Good stuff. Let's figure out what's going on.
